    Class Action Against Argentina
Attorney · Developed and managed class action "Lavaggi v. Argentina." My law firm (Hagens Berman) slapped Argentina with another global… · More class-action suit Monday aimed at compensating all of the country's bondholders that were stiffed in the government's default two-and-a-half years ago. The case adds to the class-action motions that have been piling up in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in the past several months. It's the first motion to represent all of Argentina's creditors, and it covers some 108 series of defaulted bonds from the federal government as well the Province of Buenos Aires worth approximately $88 billion, according to the complaint. The new litigation comes as the Argentine government and its foreign creditors continue to spar over the country's debt-restructuring plan that asks bondholders to take a 75% loss on their holdings. While many retail investors have opted to pursue relief via the U.S. courts, most institutional bondholders have refrained from litigation as they bet the government would continue to sweeten its restructuring offer.
