I've always been entrepreneurial. When I was in high school in Jamaica, I sold cool pens, candy and snacks to my classmates. I bought these items downtown (an area to which most of my classmates never ventured) and sold them at a 100% and more markup, prices which were still only 60 to 70% of the uptown prices my classmates were used to. Remember those days of note-passing in class? Well, for me, it was money passing from classmates to me and me passing them sweets or writing utensils. By the end of some classes, half the class would be sucking a lollipop :).
