Managing Director at Bioeconomy Capital. Principal at Biodesic. Creator of "Carlson Curves" & 1st assessment of int'l Bioeconomy. Author, Biology is Technology.
I am best known for creating what The Economist calls "Carlson Curves", which assess the quantitative performance of biological technologies. I also created the first broad assessment of revenues in the international Bioeconomy, which the White House used in its 2012 Bioeconomy Blueprint. My book "Biology is Technology" received the PROSE award for Best Engineering and Technology Book of 2010 and was named to Best Books of 2010 lists by writers at The Economist and Foreign Policy. I work with a variety of clients to help them understand how rapidly changing technology and social structures affect their business and markets. I also work with investor groups who look for companies that can change the world. The future is raw material for our dreams; understanding the present provides a foundation for fulfilling them.
