I was Mint.com's founding designer (fifth hire) in 2007 and helped it reach over 1M users and a $170M acquisition. Upon its exit, I became the first Designer-in-Residence ever at a venture capital firm in 2009. At Bessemer, I helped dozens of startups triage their product issues while working on my own: Votizen. Votizen raised seed funding from Founders Fund, SV Angel, and other notable investors. At Votizen and its acquiring company Causes, later Brigade, I designed or managed all aspects of design and customer experience. In 2016, after a second tour at Bessemer, I joined AngelList. I led the design of their investment products until leaving to take over a volunteer project that grew too large to handle part-time: Resistbot. Most civic tech startups die quickly, but I've sustained it for seven years, acting as head of product. It has moved elections, delivered over 30 million letters to officials, and served ten million users over SMS and chat platforms.
