One of Amazon/com’s earliest employees hired to “make the site interactive”. Went from working with one HTML developer and hiring the first QA person to running what became a department of over 200 front-end engineers, web developers, designers, editors and researchers responsible for the features and functionality of the website, and the overall online customer experience.
During this wonderful rocket-ship ride, the team I managed launched the music, video and toys stores and many more. We turned “launching” into a much easier, templatized process that could be done in a decentralized way throughout the company. Areas I managed included the home page, search, the order pipeline and online customer self-service, the personalization and community teams, our super-intense holiday launches, and many other aspects of the site.
