Senior Software Developer, Infrastructure
Second hire to Brex Infrastructure Team. First hire became my manager.
Things we built really cover _several_ sub-disciplines of engineering: observability, devops,... more cloud infrastructure provisioning and monitoring, container management, configuration management, database administration, and probably some other things I'm forgetting now.
Examples? Sure!
* An container configuration system allowing for sharing of settings across environments and apps within each environment.
* Porting an existing ad-hoc AWS environment into Terraform.
* Building out an entire new environment capable of passing PCI compliance.
Entire teams grew around tools originally authored by myself or my two teammates. Oftentimes, we would take turns working on different tools.
Other things:
* Interviewing more people than I can possibly imagine. Several of them still work at Brex, growing into roles with ever broader and deeper scope and responsibility. I was one of few people in the organization trusted with the "leadership" interview for new managers.
* Regular in the discussion forum around application data storage and management. Matters of discussion varied from debugging to optimization to modeling to which tool to use.
