I started MEDecision, Inc. in my basement in 1988. the company grew on its early adopter clients, profitably, until I raised our first venture capital in 1997. we raised $30 million more in 2000, took the company public in 2006, had a terrible ride, then sold the company for $120 million in 2008 to a well-capitalized strategic buyer.
Of course, I also started two other companies: one died in infancy, the other did well, took on VCs, then died a long and agonizing death.
I learn from failure as much as I try to learn from success.
