In 2009, Akademos won an OnDC 100 award which, in the words of the award-giver, recognizes "the best of emerging innovators and disrupters who are using venture capital, federal stimulus funds, and public/private sector grants to transform big industries and create viable business models for renewed and continued prosperity of our country."
Akademos has also received a "Company to Watch" award for three years, 2008 through 2010, from the Connecticut Technology Council, and the "Fast 50" award in 2006 from Deloitte and Touche.
panOpen, formed in April 2013, was one of ten companies out of an applicant pool of more than 350 accepted into the Kaplan Techstars Accelerator program. Within 90 days, the company launched its product and began to work with its first college clients.
