I have closed over 200 transactions in Energy, Mining, Ag and Water involving $6 billion in capital. I have orginated and closed over $2 billion in principal Real Estate transactions including over 20 Sharia Compliant transactions. I have served on over 40 corporate BODs in the US, UK, Netherlands and Luxembourg and on over a dozen nonprofit BODs. I am a Sarbanes Oxley Audit Committee Financial Expert. I have worked in, invested in, lived in or traveled to over 80 countries on five continents. I drafted federal and state legislation that was enacted. I advise governments. I started a VC Firm, a private placements firm, and an international merchant bank. I ran rim to rim to rim twice and rafted the Grand Canyon. I traveled overland from London to South Africa. I have travelled to over 50 World Heritage Sites. I am a City of Hope Spirit of Life Award recipient.

Same as I am doing right now.
What words of advice would you give your younger self?
Avoid the wrong people and their haunts, Smile, Walk, Help Out, Save, Pay Cash, Vote, Write Notes, Tip Generously, Repair, See the Doctor, See the Dentist, Attend Church, Eat Less, Avoid Alcohol, Get 8 hours Sleep, Buy the best and take care of it.
What's the most creative thing you've ever done?
I organized a group to transform a vacant lot into a public park with lighted ball fields. I funded and built religious retreats. I established a seed bank. I provided land for a national monument. I was among the first commercial farmers of quinoa.
Which founders or startups do you most admire?
I admire Juan Pablos who founded the first printing press in the New World. I also admire Matthew Carey and his son Henry C Carey who ran a successful publishing house and advised Lincoln on economic policy.
