New research from the Imaginary Institute puts tech workers into nine personas based on work preferences. Are you an "Avatar" loving remote freedom or a "Community-seeker" craving office social life? Maybe an "Integrator" blending remote and in-person work, or a "Rebel" trying to escape office life for good?

Recruiters: Degrees out, skills in

Nearly half of companies have dropped degree requirements for some roles this year, according to a new survey. Instead, they prioritize in-demand skills like time management, professionalism, and critical thinking.

Can AI land you a job?

Software engineer Julian Joseph used an AI tool called LazyApply to blast out 5k job applications. He landed 20 interviews but only scored a contract gig in the end. "The fact that this tool exists suggests that something is broken in the process,” he says.

Cracking the animal code

Scientists are turning to AI to decode animal communication, analyzing vocalizations and facial expressions in cats, pigs, and more. The technology could reveal emotional states, improve welfare monitoring on farms, and aid conservation.
