Senior Cloud Engineer

Description

As a Senior Back-End Engineer at ATOM, you will architect, develop, and optimize the core services that power our media authentication platform. In addition to powering our internal services, a major focus will be on creating robust, scalable APIs designed to integrate seamlessly into third-party data pipelines—accelerating our adoption and influence across the broader ecosystem. You will work hands-on with Node.js, Python, and Rust, leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Firebase. You’ll shape back-end architectures that empower partners and customers to trust what they see, thereby strengthening the chain of authenticity across entire media workflows.

*Key Responsibilities:

System Architecture & API Development:

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services and well-documented APIs using Node.js, Python, and Rust.
• Build APIs that integrate cleanly into third-party data pipelines, enabling our authentication capabilities to be seamlessly embedded into external workflows.
• Establish best practices for API development, versioning, and documentation, ensuring a frictionless experience for integration partners.
• Cloud Infrastructure & Integration:Deploy, scale, and monitor services on GCP, utilizing Kubernetes (GKE), Cloud Functions, and virtual machines.
• Integrate Firebase for application and user authentication across mobile, desktop, and web platforms.
• Create high-performing cloud services in Python and Rust for intensive computational tasks, including large-scale image and video processing.
• Use robust access, security, and verification practices to protect our platform and carefully measure and monitor third-party access.
• Work within CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, logging, and monitoring to maintain a healthy codebase and ensure rapid iteration.

*Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, Python, and Rust, with a proven track record of building production-grade APIs.
• Demonstrated experience integrating third-party data pipelines and external services into complex back-end architectures.
• Hands-on experience building services using Firebase and GCP.
• Proficiency with authentication/authorization standards and secure coding best practices.
• Experience with image processing and verification technologies is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipeline management.
