Web Developer

The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office’s mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. OSPS prepares pretrial investigation reports for the courts and supervises individuals released from custody as directed by the court.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Web Developer maintains the Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ website by generating digital documents, forms, and new web pages, and updates existing content. This position works with considerable independence under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer

FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
• Designs and updates new and existing web pages with content, documents and other related services that are error free.
• Conducts thorough testing and debugging to ensure websites are free of bugs and work as expected.
• Timely updates pretrial content on OSPS’ website for judicial stakeholders, OSPS staff, and other members of the public who visit OSPS website.
• Integrates and uses third-party Content Management System (CMS) tools and services.
• Reviews, prepares, and edits complex digital documents.
• Ensures content and documents are ADA compliant and written in a clear manner.
• Utilizes search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.
• Applies readability standards to content and documents on the website.
• Creates and uses website analytics reports.
• Maintains knowledge of new and existing practices and software to sustain an up-to-date website and related software, including security, hardware and software analyses that impact the website.
• Ensures robust backup and recovery processes for the website.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
2. Four years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private organization,
3. Two years of work experience in the information technology field with hands-on experience in website design/development, creation and use of digital multimedia, and the creation of digital documents and online forms utilizing HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript.
4. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
5. A valid Illinois Driver’s License, safe driving record and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record. Preferred Qualifications:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to sit for extended time periods. • Professional office working environment requiring telephone usage and ability to process written documents. • Ability to travel, mostly within Illinois, including overnight stays, as required.
