Member of Technical Staff

We just finished fundraising from top firms, are growing fast, and are off to the races to solve the “fire hose of information” for enterprises & professional services with AI research agents.

A Brief Description of the Role

As a Member of Technical Staff, you will collaborate closely with the team to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions that drive our company's product forward. We are looking for individuals with strong problem-solving abilities, a deep understanding of AI research & data engineering (or the ability to build one quickly), who are obsessed with performance, and have the eagerness to work on cutting-edge technologies at an early-stage startup.

On any given day, you may:

• Design distributed systems for large-scale document processing, understanding, and vectorization
• Design end-to-end pipelines for document understanding and search: model training, continual fine-tuning from ETL outputs, automated evaluation, and zero-downtime model deployment using Modal & Temporal
• Implement performant vector search systems with complex filtering and hybrid retrieval
• Create a flexible framework for agent orchestration systems using async Python with FastAPI
• Develop domain-specific fine-tuning and evaluation pipelines for embeddings models using PyTorch
• Deploy web scraping agents and multimodal web agents for autonomous data extraction at 100k+ pages/hour with distributed proxy infrastructure
• Scale Python applications elastically using Modal for distributed task queues, web crawling, model training and zero-ops deployments
• Design low-latency APIs handling 10k+ requests/second with caching
• Build performant Next.js apps with SSR
• Ship polished, production-ready frontend platforms to large, research-focused enterprises
• Create real-time collaborative spaces that blend human and AI workflows using WebSockets/CRDTs
• Prototype novel interaction patterns for AI systems - reimagining universal UX (docs/spreadsheets/inboxes) around agent capabilities, developing novel interfaces for delegating tasks to and collaborating with multiple AI agents

Your background might look something like:

• 3-8+ years of relevant experience.
• Former founder, or early engineer at a startup who has built a product from scratch is a plus.

We are on-site in Manhattan, NYC. Compensation (salary + equity) will be competitive relative to experience level and other factors.
