Mission
Valory creates open-source software for co-owned AI, enabling joint operation and control of AI software for novel use cases in crypto, science, and enterprise. Our mission is to empower communities, organizations, and countries to co-own AI systems, starting with decentralized autonomous agents. We believe Artificial General Intelligence will likely be agentic and must be co-owned. Read more about our values.
Products
We co-founded Olas DAO for co-owning AI, created the Olas Stack, an open-source framework for creating AI agents and the Olas Protocol, a blockchain protocol for incentivizing their creation.

You will be exposed to everything from cutting-edge legal issues concerning crypto and AI to the more common employment and contracting laws and regulations across the dozen jurisdictions in which we work. You will maintain a separation between the for-profit company, Valory, and third parties like the DAO and foundation.
We retain excellent external council, which you will liasie with on a regular basis.
This role will use their expertise to assist the Head of Operations and CEO in doing what is advisable in-house, providing perspective on council’s view, liaising with external council on a regular basis, and in balancing attention to detail with prioritization to unblock operations and the wider company.

- Liaise with expert lawyers and external council, obtaining targeted answers and advice regarding priority issues to the company’s processes and practices.
- Maintain and communicate the high standards expected internally and from collaborators, defending the company’s interests in contracts, communications, etc.
- Inform and support the rest of the company (e.g. marketing and product teams) to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable laws, and regulations across our products, marketing, policies and practices.
- Keep up to date with relevant laws and regulations across key jurisdictions we work in, using this knowledge to inform your work.
Requirements
- Ability to work in line with our values
- A law degree or equivalent qualification with a focus on relevant areas (e.g., corporate or employment law).
- 3+ years of experience in a law firm and/or as in-house counsel in a similar company (EITHER in industry or geography, i.e. AI/crypto OR a company operational in one or more relevant jurisdictions).
- Experience creating, maintaining and improving in-house compliance/legal processes and documents systematically.
- Ability to navigate and interpret legal and regulatory frameworks in an applied setting.
- Ability to balance a high level of attention to detail with a high level of prioritization.
- Strong communication skills, written and spoken, for a variety of audiences.
- Bonus: experience in BOTH an AI/crypto company and one that is operational across several relevant jurisdictions.
- Strong preference for time zone between UTC -2 to UTC +6.

The Opportunity
- Generous salary and equity compensation, accounting for benefits.
- Remote (Valory is a fully distributed team from day one with biannual meetups).
- Be a part of a unique and novel project that will push web3 forward and be harnessed in whichever domain crypto goes – finance, media, data, identity.
- You will work on a unique software stack and product with a team of world-class software engineers, researchers, and product experts across multiple fields.
- You will collaborate with teams across crypto and our community of agent developers.
- You will redefine how developers build off-chain services in DeFi and long into web3’s future.
