The Role

Digi.Bio is a digital biology company working at the intersection of biology, computation, and engineering. We aim to deliver next generation technology platforms powered by lab-on-a-chip and artificial intelligence for faster automation of biologics development, enabling cheaper medicines to benefit all.

Digi.Bio is looking for a student with a background in molecular biology/ biotechnology/ chemistry/ pharmaceutical science or similar and is interested in work at the intersection of engineering, data, and biology. As a member of our R&D team, you will make a large impact on the development of our next-generation product in the field of biologics, a nascent field with a high potential for impact. In this role, you will be reporting directly to the CTO and have the opportunity to work on interesting biological datasets generated with next-generation methods.

Some of the work that you may be involved in include
Performing Molecular Biology protocols (eg. cell, protein, or immunoassays)
Performing data analysis using in-house analysis pipeline
Experiment design, data collection, and troubleshooting on a Digi.Bio Device and on the bench.
Identifying areas of improvement, tracking, and troubleshooting bugs.
Identifying state-of-the-art solutions through literature research.
Supporting product development decision-making processes.

Other tasks include:
Perform recurrent laboratory maintenance tasks.
Develop and maintain documentation for descriptions and specifications of experimental designs and experimental data, including protocols used, purchasing specifications, test documentation, and test reports.

Qualifications
This position is open to MBO/HBO/BSc/MSc students or recent graduates with relevant qualifications or experience with the courses Laboratory Analyst/ Molecular Biology / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Sciences or similar. The most important qualification for this position is a good attitude, an open mind, and willingness to learn new things.

Essential Requirements
Ability to perform ELISAs and similar assays
Competence in preparation of experiments from protocols
Competence in preparing solutions and performing calculations to prepare solutions
Theoretical knowledge of fluorescence microscopy
Experience with standard microbiological methods
Experience with sterile methods, eg working in a clean cabinet
Experience and precision in standard laboratory techniques
Training with molecular biology tools (proper use of centrifuges, thermocyclers, biosafety cabinets, etc)
Based in Amsterdam or surrounding areas, or willingness to commute
